FOREIGN LANGUAGE INSTRUCTION ONLINE!

The library now offers an online language instruction program called Powerspeak. Five languages are available, including ESL. Click on the button above and enter your library barcode number to get started.

Employment Resources At The Library

This page is dedicated to assisting the community in searching for employment. Resources based at the library are featured, as are other web - based resources for your convenience. Databases

Databases are electronic resources that can be accessed from any computer. Each database requires a login. See individual database instructions for login-in requirements - click the links below to visit each database.

  • JobNow by Brainfuse is a unique suite of resources for job seekers, including live interview coaching, online resume assistance, test preparation, writing skills, live online tutors, job retraining resources, and expert advice on job-related issues.

  • Learning Express Library provides civil service, licensing, and academic practice tests to help adults and students pass the essential tests for career advancement and college entrance. It also provides computer training classes in a variety of Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint. A Carson City Library card is required to sign in.

  • ReferenceUSA is a directory of residential and business phone numbers, addresses, and demographic information for the entire United States. When prompted, enter all digits of a Carson City Library card barcode number.

  • NCIS - Nevada Career Information System presents career, workforce, and educational information in a user-friendly format. The website is designed to help job seekers make informed career choices and obtain the qualifications necessary to be successful in the workplace. No library card is required. Sign in using option 2 for Nevada residents.

Computers

  • Public Internet computers are available for 1 hour sessions. Use your library card or ask at the desk about getting an Internet card or guest pass.

  • Word processing computers are available for 3 hour sessions. Ideal for working on a resume or cover letters. Note: There is NO Internet connection on these computers.

NevadaEmployerHelp.com - connects eployers with resources to recruit skilled employees, train your existing staf and receive human resource assistance at little or no cost to employers.

Veteran Services - Provides job search workshops, assessment and guidance services, and labor market information for veterans.

Employment Security Division - Offers job placement and training opportunities to Nevada businesses and workers and information on filing unemployment claims.

Nevada Dept of Employment, Training And Rehabilitation - For information on Unemployment Benefit claims and more.
