Story Stroll September 10-30, 2017

(CARSON CITY, NV)– The Carson City Library is partnering with Carson City Parks, Recreation and Open Space Department to provide Carson City with an active reading program for Outside the Lines (OTL). “Outside the Lines is a weeklong celebration demonstrating the creativity and innovation happening in libraries.”

A self led Story Stroll will be available to the public at Carson River Park September 10-30, 2017 to promote reading, highlight our open spaces, and engage our community.

The Story Stroll will start at 5013 Carson River Road and each page will be placed approximately 100 feet apart (the Story Stroll will be approximately .25 miles, one way). Bilingual picture book, Colors! ¡Colores! by Jorge Luján and Piet Grobler, will be mounted along the river trail for participants to read as they stroll through the park, one page at a time.  This fun, educational program promotes literacy by getting children engaged in reading in a unique way. Additionally, the stroll encourages healthy activities utilizing Carson City’s trails.

Be sure to document your stroll by taking pictures and using the hashtags #getOTL #CCStoryStroll #IWalkForMyLibrary on Social Media.
